For a long time if anyone said vegan cheese, people’s faces would screw up. The world is very different now.
At Taste of London on the weekend I tasted a Burella that tasted better than most Burrata you’d find in a supermarket and it had no dairy.
Julienne Bruno (a company, not a person) was exhibiting their three Burrata-inspired plantbased products: Burrella, Superstraccia and Crematta. It was one of just a few things I was told by my friend and Ice Cream Tour Guide, Scott, said I should try at Taste.
The Burrella is the one to buy. In a Caprese salad I’d challenge anyone to tell you it wasn’t dairy (OK, if they’re not paying too much attention or a cheese expert!). It’s £4.50 for 115g and available on Ocado and Julienne Bruno’s website.
