Hello and happy Wednesday!

Buns are really having a moment. Who’d have thought? Move over croissants. (Not really.)

I thought I’d bring you a summary of the best I’ve had. And I’ve had a lot. 😅

Also, I’ve been doing a lot of late-night mulling lately.

Not about buns.

When I’d eaten too much chocolate too late in the day I was lying in bed, too awake, I realised I had this idea that if these newsletters are going into your inboxes then they had to be worthy of the space. I equated this worthiness to length and pictures and general fullness.

Then I remembered that, actually, less can be so much more.

Less is not my strong suit, I am a greedy person, regardless of the realm, and so I assume others also want more so try to over-give too, but here’s to an experiment in brevity going forwards. I hope it’ll make these less overwhelming for you and for me.

Well… after this week?

This first section for all of you lovely readers is short; below the pay wall my bun summary and reviews are thorough.

If you’d like to become a free or paid subscriber of The Next Delicious Thing and ensure small businesses get spoken about - and you hear - tap below!

Here’s the short bit:

Thanks

The Best Buns in London and Beyond

This is mostly about London, but I’m throwing in a few from the rest of the UK and abroad that live in my mind.

This little summary was inspired by recent visits (and queues) at Bunhead Bakery and Roll Boys and the realisation that buns are big now.

So, here’s what I think of what I’ve tried…

A quick reminder that there is a tab for buns on the London 2025 Sweet Baked Goods Map (should I change the name to Cookies, Cakes & More?) so you’ll also find all of these places there.

If you can’t leave a comment you can restack with a note (the little circular arrow symbol) or, if you got this by email, you can reply.

Get the map here.

Let’s start with the newest kid on the block. The one with the longest queues.
