My Ultimate Paris Guide
New Parisian patisserie openings, my all-time favourites, some restaurant recommendations, the best (value) hotel and my thoughts on the places that end up on the “must eat”in Paris lists. 🤨
If you missed it: last week I wrote about excellent advent calendars and hampers for Christmas. There might still be time to get one!
Next week I said I would be writing about London restaurants, but I thought it might be more important to cover some great Christmas baked goods first…
I also saw a lot of great items at the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham last week which I’ll be writing about at some point in the next month. I forgot to tell you I was joining Katy Truss on her Fabulous Food Finds chocolate session, though the tickets sold out before I went anyway! 😅 If I go again, I’ll give you more warning.
The next newsletter on Monday 9th December will be on Christmas specials from bakeries. Between now and then I’ve got some more fact finding and tasting to do (and a school trip and some paid work 🎉). Let me know of any Christmas baked goods that you think should go on this list! Especially if they’re outside of London.
As I won’t be writing to you next week, you should know of two events planned for Saturday 7th December:
Miel Bakery will be running a collaboration with Guittard Chocolate and creating a range of extra special chocolate products, including a triple chocolate brownie and a Black Forest chocolate tart.
Toklas Bakery are hosting their Christmas market. Also a great opportunity to get Toklas baked goods if you can’t normally get there in the week, now that they’re usually closed on the weekend.
And now, to Paris:
My Ultimate Guide to Delicious Things in Paris
I’m pretty proud of how comprehensive this, if I may say so. I think it’ll be so helpful if you’re visiting Paris to ensure you spend that stomach space (and Euros) wisely.
At the beginning of this month for five days, in between judging the International Chocolate Awards World Final round from my hotel room (results here now!) and the hours each day I spent at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris, I jumped on Lime bikes and the metro to get myself to several new patisseries and boulangeries, as well as buying something from the rotating cake stall at the salon itself.
This week I’m sharing…
those new-ish places with you, along with a hot new opening (that opened after I left, sadly for me),
the BEST VALUE neighbourhood boulangerie in Paris (seriously, I can’t believe it)
some of my all time favourite Parisian bakeries, patisserie and chocolate shops
my thoughts on places that often get on the “must try” lists 🤨
some vegetarian-friendly restaurants - because it’s good to eat some vegetables alongside all of the baked goods and chocolate. So they say. 🤷🏻♀️ 😘
And I’ll also share the best value hotel that I’ve stayed in (& paid for) twice now. I can’t tell you how much I love it.
So, consider this your
perfect patisserie - and other delicious things - guide to Paris
as at November 2024!
First up, these two patisseries opened in the past year and I haven’t seen them written about before. I’m pretty sure you’ll want to visit both.
Conveniently, it’s a pleasant walk between them and
