My big announcement!

If you’re new here, hi! I’m Jen and I’ve been running chocolate tours and tastings in London for almost 20 years alongside working in the food industry and judging food. Every week I share delicious things here. It might be new bakeries, like today; a special pop up; some wonderful chocolate available by post, or things I spotted at a food trade show.

My work is centred on promoting businesses that focus on flavour, quality and good ethics. I hope you’ll subscribe to make it easier to shop this way!

London has so many new bakeries?

I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that I’m about to tell you of EIGHT new bakeries that just opened or will be opening soon in (or near) London.

I know of another one that I can’t share yet, too.

Madness.

I started writing this on Monday and I thought there were five, which seemed crazy enough. Then I remembered another. Then I learnt about a few more.

All of this times perfectly well with

my big announcement!

You might already have noticed the upgrade of The Next Delicious Thing logo (thanks

Lisa Barron
!). My main website jenniferearle.com also has an upgrade too and there’s no more Chocolate Ecstasy Tours (but you can still book tours with me, it was just time to say bye to the name (explained in the video above!).

Did you know on Instagram you can watch reels at 2X speed by holding down the screen on the righ thand side?

London Maps & City Guides

I’m so excited. And nervous!

Pre-order the London 2025 Bread & Croissants Map here and it’ll be emailed to you on Friday!

It’ll be updated on the 1st of each month until the end of 2025 with new places or any closures.

The London 2025 Sweet Baked Goods Map will come later in the month and the London 2025 Ice Cream & Gelato will be sent in May.

They’ll both be updated on the 1st of each month, too.

Pre-order prices for this week. Maybe until next week. I’ll see!

Thank you to everyone who came to the Chocolate Market on Saturday!

It was a success for the traders which made it a success for me! (Because that was my goal, I wasn’t getting commission, or indeed any money.)

It was wonderful to speak to so many people and to share the chocolate love.

I put together a little video in case you’re curious about what it was like, with footage from ClerkenwellBoy, Liberty Mendez and Chloe Stewart, plus a few bits of my own:

You might be excited to know that Toklas Bakery is going to start opening on Saturdays again. I definitely am!

Two more chocolate pop ups!

This Saturday Eric’s Bakery is hosting Chilean pastry chef Camila Marcias who will be making a one off menu using Original Beans chocolate from Cusco in Peru (this chocolate is so good - I handed out the 65% version to people at the market on Saturday and watching people’s faces as their eyes widened and the did a double take at the taste was brilliant).

I also tried the 100% Cusco in a dish cooked by Marie Mitchell for a Countertalk X Original Beans industry dinner on Monday night. Founder Philipp Kaufmann shared some interesting facts between courses, some of which I will incorporate into my Things You Didn’t Know You Needed To Know About Chocolate series.

I am so sad to miss this pop up.

📌 Eric’s, 20 Upland Rd, London SE22 9EF

NEAREST STATION: East Dulwich

Cocoa Runners Pop Up at Fidelio next Thursday 10th April from 8.30-3.30. I’ll sadly miss this one too! You can go along and taste bars and buy some for Easter.

📌 Fidello, 91-95 Clerkenwell Rd, London EC1R 5BX

NEAREST STATION: Farringdon

So what are these new London bakeries?
