Is Bruce worth the hype?
My verdict. Plus a new patisserie, new bakery and new restaurant! And more, always more.
The short answer is yes, I think it is.
Who’s Bruce?
What, is more appropriate in this case.
Named after the Matilda character who was forced to eat the giant chocolate cake - which, incidentally, was made by my friend Juliet Sear for the film (LOTS of them), Bruce is a slice of 12-layered chocolate cake (24 if you count the ganache as layers) made by Get Baked, in Leeds.
More ganache than cake, really, which is its charm.

It’s pricey at £15 plus postage, but he is a beast. This is no ordinary slice of cake. You could easily share him with two more people and feel like you’ve had a great amount of cake in one sitting, or stretch him out over a few days alone, if you wished.
He also has a brother, Bruno, whose every other layer is caramel butter cream.
Bruno won’t be around much longer because he’s making way for Chesney, which I’m predicting will be a ginger cake with a tropical topping. But I have no inside information on …
